Time for the next surprise in the GOG.com's Holiday Celebrations. We're still working on adding Windows 7 compatibility to some of the games which have some issues with the newest operating system from big M. We're happy to let you know that [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/arcanum_of_steamworks_and_magick_obscura]Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura and Myst: Masterpiece Edition are now fully compatible with both 32 and 64-bit Windows 7. To get the latest, Windows 7 compatible versions of the games, you have to re-download and install them again.

The is our third surprise in GOG.com's Holiday Celebrations. Don't know what we're talking about? For the next two weeks, we're going to reveal a little something for you once a day, until December 14 when we reveal the BIG surprise!

Want more? Check back tomorrow for another GOG holiday surprise!
I've just checked out the 'not compatible with win7' list posted above. Jeez, that's nearly every game I've bought.

Luckily most work okay, but a definite non-compatibility notice would be nice.

I would personally like to see the max resolution a game can run at (with or without mods) being listed too.

Merry Christmas to you all,

DrT

Yeah, it's not officially compatible, but a lot of these are dosbox games, and easy to get working in windows 7, so they probably weren't a priority.

Some of the games listed as win7 compatible don't work (or at least not acceptably) on my laptop, and a lot on the not compatible list work perfectly. I've learnt that about 1/3 of the games I buy on here just won't work properly or at all (Freespace, MDK, Apache Havoc, Citizen Kabuto...), and for some reason I seem to be okay with that. They do fix some games - I was so happy when Gabriel Knight 3 worked properly.
I'm hoping they get Interstate '76 next! I was so upset when this title didn't work on my brand new rig. It's all good though since I plan on setting up my old Pentium 4 XP rig just to run it, but I really shouldn't have to do that.

EDIT: Fixed typos.

Personally i never expected to see the day that Blood will be Win 7 compatible, but you made it happen. Great work.
Sweet time to download and start playing Arcanum again. Thanks GOG!!!

When are you guys planning on making The Longest Journey compatible with Win7 and newer graphics cards?

I just bought the game and installed it on a Win7 Ultimate 64bit OS, only to find out that it looks atrocious with my Nvidia Geforce GTX 460, and stutters constantly.

I almost feel like I've been duped. I guess I should always check the forums before I buy a game these days.
would be nice if game installers had a versioning system.
for example, Arcanum setup GOG r1.exe
and tell us what is the latest GOG release, and maybe notify us if it is updated.
It would ensure we always use the latest version and don't suffer from problems that have been fixed without our knowledge.

StingingVelvet: I just played Arcanum on Win7 64bit a few months ago and didn't notice any issues.

Navagon: My retail copy works fine. But then they did say they weren't going to label a game Win7 compatible until all issues with all configurations were addressed. In Blood 2's case, that's going to be an epic task.

Aliasalpha: And fixing NWN if it hasn't been done yet

Navagon: What's wrong with it?
It's boring?

(sorry) :-)

I've played through the entire game on Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 470 without any issues. Aero is disabled on my machine though, maybe that's your problem?

I've played through some of TLJ with win7 hp x64 and a GTX480 and had no real problem other than one or two texture flickers here and there

Hmm... strange. I suppose I'll have to look into this on my own then.
Reading the forums I got the impression that quite a few people were having graphical/performance glitches of some kind while attempting to run this game, so I assumed that I was one of the unfortunate many.

It is possible that something is wrong with my own settings though... I'll do some more research on this.
Yet more proof that GOG is the best discovery I made this year. Keep up the amazing job!
Any word on whether or not Icewindale will be compatible with 7 sometime soon?

What problems are you having? Icewind Dale has always worked fine for me, both GOG and CDs.
This is good news, would be great to get emails when an exe is updated since a thread can disappear quickly or overlooked in a quick scan.
