Time for the next surprise in the GOG.com's Holiday Celebrations. We're still working on adding Windows 7 compatibility to some of the games which have some issues with the newest operating system from big M. We're happy to let you know that [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/arcanum_of_steamworks_and_magick_obscura]Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura and Myst: Masterpiece Edition are now fully compatible with both 32 and 64-bit Windows 7. To get the latest, Windows 7 compatible versions of the games, you have to re-download and install them again.

The is our third surprise in GOG.com's Holiday Celebrations. Don't know what we're talking about? For the next two weeks, we're going to reveal a little something for you once a day, until December 14 when we reveal the BIG surprise!

Want more? Check back tomorrow for another GOG holiday surprise!

Mattenator: Any word on whether or not Icewindale will be compatible with 7 sometime soon?
GOG team have said they'd only label a game Win 7 compatible if it was completely compatible with every major configuration (by which standards you have to wonder how Insterstate 76 and Blood 2 slipped through the net).

My CD version works fine and the GOG version is basically just that + a cracked executable.

Interstate '76 and Blood 2 don't state that they are Win 7 compatible, but yes they do appear (from the forum comments about these games) to have many issues.

From what I've read though they're not fully functional on any OS.
This initiative is sooo cool. The best thing about all those 'Oldies but Goldies' is the gameplay - nostalgia is something else ;-)
How about 'Heart of Darkness' or for example 'Ignition' - a couple of titles I would like to see again.
And 'Eye of the Beholder' series would also be really cool to run again.
Best regards.

Joffe20: Sweet time to download and start playing Arcanum again. Thanks GOG!!!
yeah this is what I thought.

But still. win 7 ultimate is not so ultimate as I thought :D
The installation completed without any hitch but when I open the game it tells me the program is not responding and only gives me the option to end the program. I just got this computer so maybe I haven't installed the latest service packages, I'm not sure. I was really stoked on playing it. I am even on a search for XP just to play it haha. If anyone can help me out, it would be seriously appreciated
I hope some day blood2 will run on W7
Great stuff guys!

Freespace 1 & 2 on the list for Win 7 compat?

I am not sure why its not working then. I have Win 7 64bit and everything should be configured properly. But when I load the game it just says there has been an error and turns off

I just reinstalled it, tested it and it works fine for me. That's on Win 7 64bit too. Are you using a clean install or are you using mods, like the widescreen mod (not that you should have any problem with that either)?

Check & see if it's running on any Compatibility settings. Also, where did it install to - the default location?
Well to start I am using Windows 7 64bit. I have changed around the compatability to try all possibilities. I have reinstalled it with admin and ran it with admin. I am not using any mods or anything its just straight from GOG. And I installed it in a different drive. I am leaving my C drive to deal with windows cause its a lot smaller and then all my other files are on my D drive. The only thing I can think of is that I downloaded it in a few sittings. I did it over 4 or 5 days. I am downloading directx right now and I'll probably reinstall it all again but I am running out of ideas. I'm getting ready to purge Windows 7 and get back to the roots with XP. I only have a Nvidia 310 with 1GB ram is that has any effect but I don't think it should considering the age of the game. Can you guys think of anything else ?

You've covered everything pretty well (you did try with NO Compatibility settings?) - I'd suggest trying another d/l, but I've only ever seen that affect the file during installation.

Could it be possible to be sent e-mails informing us when a game is from now on Windows-7 compatible? (Providing we subscribe to a related mailing list, naturally.)
From a certain point of view, it's equivalent to a new release, because there are games that some of us await to be win7 compatible before acquiring them.

I'd sign up for this, I click around on some games and think "oooh, this one, almost forgot about it, gotta buy it.. oh wait..".

I bought Cannon Fodder knowing it wouldn't work on Windows 7 but it's just such a damn good game I had to, also I am wishing it will get Windows 7 compatability soon.

Also, Sanitarium on windows 7 would be amazing.
