Time for the next surprise in the GOG.com's Holiday Celebrations. We're still working on adding Windows 7 compatibility to some of the games which have some issues with the newest operating system from big M. We're happy to let you know that [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/arcanum_of_steamworks_and_magick_obscura]Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura and Myst: Masterpiece Edition are now fully compatible with both 32 and 64-bit Windows 7. To get the latest, Windows 7 compatible versions of the games, you have to re-download and install them again.

The is our third surprise in GOG.com's Holiday Celebrations. Don't know what we're talking about? For the next two weeks, we're going to reveal a little something for you once a day, until December 14 when we reveal the BIG surprise!

Want more? Check back tomorrow for another GOG holiday surprise!
Many thanks GoG I have bought Arcanum months ago but I have not played it yet. In fact I played this very good CRPG when it was released, many years ago, but I am going to play the ultimate version with unfinished business. I am planning to buy very soon a new laptop with W7 and this surprise is very very appreciated.
What a perfect excuse for anyone who hasn't purchased Arcanum yet to do so.You'll be doing yourself a favor, trust me.
Great to see extended support to Arcanum! Thank you, GOG team!
Yes! I love Myst!

SLP2000: Ok, so inspired by this third surprise I have created list of GOG games which still need their compatibility with Windows 7.

By the way, is is a coincidence that all four promo games are not compatible with Windows 7, and today you announced as third surprise that more games are.
Ah I'll bookmark that link. So looks like before I rebuild my system for windows 7 I should keep a Win XP setup for duel boot just in case. I somehow doubt running a virtual machine like virtual box is going to be great for 3D performance. Though it is supposed to have some 3D Support http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Changelog

Nicely done. I've linked your list in the Win7 issues thread.

Grah: Hi

To summary our changes in Myst and Arcanum.
I suggest posting such message on game specific forum as well – “sticking” it on the top of board. It would also be nice (if possible) to add possibility to download “gog patch” only – so we don’t have to download GBs when you just updated configuration files.
Why do I have feeling that the big surprise could be LucasArts?

Because they said they are going to sign up another big publisher later this year and they didn't yet?

Anyway, I have similar feelings.

Plus, I think we can expect Age of Wonders manuals + other free stuff for other games as one of the surprises.

Do the installers have version numbers? Lets say that I missed this news. Is there a way to tell if my games have been updated without downloading them all again just in case? :-)

It would be nice if they could be marked somehow in the my Account Section.

I second that motion.
I downloaded a game the other day when I noticed it said Win7 support (I'm sure I didn't notice that when I originally downloaded it) after downloading and checking the file it was the same as I already had. It has to be in GOGs best interest to have people not downloading the same file again that they already have.
Oh, Thank you all at GOG! My Arcanum "seems" to run OK but I'll re-DL it anyways, along with MYST.

But,PLEEZE do the same for NEVERWINTER!! Mine won't work AT ALL and I've tried every fix I could find in GOGland.

Will have to redownload and reinstall once I am done with my current playthrough of Arcanum.

GOG is the best.

I third the motion (both version numbers [better yet if they are in the filename, as I retain original filenames in my records and backups] and update notices). The version numbers would probably be the easiest to implement, and would be quite helpful right away.

Also:
While it wouldn't catch everything, it might be helpful (and might be faster to implement as a stopgap) to be able to sort games in My Account by "last updated" date.
