Anamon: I'd go with the first one, considering how many people are reporting that the versions they got earlier already worked fine on Windows 7. The announcement doesn't really state that the files have been replaced today, it's only the official announcement that they are now officially supported on Windows 7. Most likely they updated the files a while ago and waited for some more testing and experiences to come in (and for the holiday season so the announcement can fill one of the 14 slots :)).
If it is true it's an extremely weak xmas surprise.
Just saving work you've done during the year and announcing it when you've got no real news to announce. So I really hope it's just them being sloppy again and that the new version is still coming.
So far I think these announcements really just show this site's willingness to improve itself. By permanently lowering prices and continuously striving to improve current products all the while maintaining the status quo of keeping releases per week and weekend promos. These are all great ways to show newer members the level of dedication and support this site has to making itself better.

Many of us here have come to expect this standard already and therefore may not be as easily excited.
Hi

To summary our changes in Myst and Arcanum.

First of all, Windows 7 versions of Myst Masterpiece is 1.0.0.20 (previous one was 1.0.0.13), Arcanum is 1.0.0.10 (was 1.0.0.9). If your downloaded games are previous versions it means it might stuck somewhere on proxy servers and try to redownload it again.

Myst additionally gets bigger about 30mb due to QuictTime 7 installer bundled with the installer (not required to install if you already got one).

And last thing - if the game works fine on your machine there is absolutely no reason to redownload it. We didn't add any content to the game, didn't change the game in anyway, it's still the same game, but works better on Windows 7 machines (and other systems where we previously stepped into some bugs). All mods compatible with previous version works here, as well as additional content.

Best
Grah
I bought Arcanum half a year ago. Never had any problems with it (Although I admit, I haven't finished it) and I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. Is there any reason to download new files? And if so, will my save-games still work?

--- Edit: I see it's already been answered by Grah. Looks like we posted at the same time...

Big thank you for posting the file versions. It seems I've downloaded the old files, so I will try to redownload them tomorrow or on sunday again. Thanks again.

foxtrix: Same here. I just downloaded the Arcanum installer and it is bit-exact the same one I downloaded a few months ago.

DukeNukemForever: I posted this already a few months ago in the Win7 thread, but maybe here it gets more official attention: It would be really nice to have a list with all actual file versions, so everyone can check if he needs to download the games again. This would save many bandwith and time for us and GOG.
Second that. Or to at least have a special page with information about all updates (games and extras) (+ RSS feed).
Service idea: Maybe users who own these games and have downloaded them before can be notified (like the notification when someone replies to a forum post) of this?

I've been asking for this for many months now! Would be quite handy. It'd work best as a pop-down box like the forum replies/games in cart/support ticket ones.

Awesome! I own both of those and did have some problems with Myst in W7.
Great, well done GOG. More of this sort of thing please!

Can TLJ be updated for Win7 next? I had a problem with that (I had to run it in a window for some reason I can't fathom).
Ahh, good to hear. The only problem I've had with Arcanum (using Windows 7 64-bit) is the backgrounds melding with the pointer. Not a big deal but it was kind of annoying.
For anyone interested, using a program like F-CRC Calculator I've checked the CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) of both files and they are as follows:

Old Arcanum: F94B4C21
New Arcanum: EB9D0445

Nice -- Thanks, GOG! It's not easy reaching into older back catalogs, getting the license to distribute them as well as extra goodies usually not found in the original releases and then get them to officially work on the most modern OS's. The effort is appreciated :)

Downloading the new build of Arcanum now...
